Pegasus News reviews the new Hunter S. Thompson Bio Pic, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.

So far, the movie seems to be making the rounds of the independent film festivals, debuting earlier at Sundance earlier this year. No mass release information is available as of yet, but since the Executive Producer was Mark Cuban/HDNet, we expect it to be on airing on the channel in the near future.

The fine folks from Hunterdon Distributing took a little road trip down to Frederick, MD last week to see our new, state-of-the-art brewery, sample some of our new brews and take a run through “The Gauntlet” (Market Street Pub Crawl).

Our very own Chris Rippe was looking forward to entertaining the Hunterdon Crew for a night and was talking a pretty big game before they got there. He kept spouting off about how he was going “show them how it’s done.” But it might have been Hunterdon who got the best of Rippe. As it turns out, it was RIPPE who was passed out at the bar at the end of the night.

We thank everyone from Hunterdon who came down for a visit and we hope you can come back soon. We promise Rippe will be put down for a nap before the festivities next time.

Another month has passed and it is time for The Session once again. This month’s topic is Doppelbocks and we have a pretty unique one to throw into the discussion. It is rare that home brewer’s get a chance to influence the outcome of a commercial brew but with our Open Source Beer Project that is exactly what Flying Dog did in Fall of 2007.

Wild Dog Collaborator Doppelbock gave amateur brewers a chance to give our brewing team recommendations and feedback on the everything from the grain, hops and yeast to the brewing process itself. We combined their feedback to create a unique Doppelbock recipe.

Collaborator has a full body with a sweet malt profile and a slight roast character. The complete recipe and printable labels are available for download at http://www.opensourcebeerproject.com/.

Another Halloween is upon us and as we become adults we trade the candy in for fermented adult beverages from Flying Dog as our treats. There is always an army of Hunter Thompson look-a-likes running around and celebrating as if it were the man himself. We want you to send in your pictures of you in your HST costumes so we can publish them on our website’s photo gallery and blog. Rolling Stone has recently released a gallery featuring all 8 of the Gonzo covers Hunter Thompson and Ralph Steadman teamed up to create for the magazine. Hunter wrote for Rolling Stone as a political and social journalist for over 20 years starting in 1970. Click on the image below to see the gallery.

Dustin is Flying Dog’s new brewery intern. What a lucky bastard! Now all we have to do is break him of his hippy, tie-dye shirt wearing ways. Just think if you had relentlessly bothered our head brewer Matt Brophy you could be in Dustin’s shoes. Good luck Dustin and don’t screw it up for yourself.

As many of you know, Ralph Steadman illustrates our packaging. What you might NOT know is how unbelievably vast Ralph’s collection of art is.
