Chad Ober lives in New Hampshire, the land of “Live Free or Die.” And he wants one thing: Raging Bitch.

Unfortunately, the State of New Hampshire has banned wholesalers and retailers from carrying Raging Bitch. Why? Because one person (Chief of Liquor Enforcement Eddie Edwards) doesn’t like the name.

In protest, Chad started a Facebook page titled “BEER DRINKERS FOR FLYING DOG RAGING BITCH IN NH.” On the page, he requests that “anyone joining this group needs to have a desire for all beers to be available to the public, regardless of silly things like names!”

We could not agree more.

It is an outrage that one person can arbitrarily over-rule the rights of wholesalers, retailers, and beer lovers throughout an entire state. We are proud to have Chad in the People’s Republic of Flying Dog and wholeheartedly support his quest for the Bitch.

Mr. Edwards, if you’re reading this, our CEO Jim Caruso has called you a few times to discuss this with you. He would very much appreciate a call back.

Our CEO and General Partner, Jim Caruso loves the beer business.  It’s not uncommon to see Jim filling his day by working on the bottling line, helping fix the case erector, talking numbers with our CFO and then going out to make some sales calls in the afternoon.  Jim’s life IS a craft beer adventure.

A couple weeks back, Jim decided that he’s going to start documenting his adventures via photography.  Everyday, Jim takes at least one photo to document what’s going on his world.  Take this photo below as an example.  Last week, Jim and our VP of Sales, Rich Graham were down in Houston.  After a long day of distributor meetings, they wanted to belly up to the bar and have a cold Flying Dog, so they busted out the GPS and looked for the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium.  Needless to say, the GPS did them wrong and they ended up at the Flying Saucer Pie Company.  All in a days work in the beer biz.  Luckily, they DID find the Flying Saucer that sells beer (not pies) and got their cold Flying Dog.

Bummed about not being able to make to the 2008 GABF?  Even more bummed about not making it to the 2008 FBAG (Flying Dog, Brats & Gonzo)?  Worry no more.  Our friends at BeerUtopia.com have were there to take in all of the festivities and have posted a couple highlight videos.

Eric Warner has announced that after eight years of record growth during his tenure as CEO at Flying Dog Brewery, he will be leaving in search of a fresh, new challenge, effective September 1, 2008.  According to Eric, “Eight years as CEO is a long time in that position in this or any other industry.  I could not be prouder of all that’s been accomplished and I want to make a change while I’m at the top of my game.”

Eric added “I would not be comfortable making this move unless there was someone who I felt shared the same passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to Flying Dog that I do and who could seamlessly step in and build on the momentum we’ve created.  I am therefore pleased to announce that effective July 1st, Jim Caruso will be General Partner and CEO of Flying Dog Brewery and I will advise and assist him for the next two months.”

Jim has been affiliated with Flying Dog since 1995 and has served as the company’s Chairman since 1999.  “There is no greater joy than being part of the wonderful, wacky and irreverent world of Flying Dog,” Jim said.  “I love beer, and I have extraordinary respect for the talent and dedication of all the people who are the company, and I could not be prouder of what Flying Dog stands for.”
