New York Times Give Ralph Steadman Some Love

HST Documentary Appropriately Released on 7/4/08

Magnolia Pictures is releasing the long-awaited “GONZO: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S, Thompson” on July 4, 2008.  The film is narrated by Johnny Depp and features an array of Hunter’s friends, enemies and co-conspirators including Ralph Steadman, Jimmy Carter, Jann Wenner, George McGovern, Pat Buchchanan and even our very own George Stranahan (Flying Dog Founder and Hunter’s Landlord).

“Gonzo” - HST BioPic Reviewed

Pegasus News reviews the new Hunter S. Thompson Bio Pic, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.

So far, the movie seems to be making the rounds of the independent film festivals, debuting earlier at Sundance earlier this year. No mass release information is available as of yet, but since the Executive Producer was Mark Cuban/HDNet, we expect it to be on airing on the channel in the near future.

Two New Hunter S. Thompson Biographies Released

Two books documenting the life and times of Dr. Gonzo, Hunter S. Thompson are now available.

The first, called “The Gonzo Way” is written by Anita Thompson, Hunter’s widow and second wife.

HUNTER THOMPSON HALLOWEEN

Another Halloween is upon us and as we become adults we trade the candy in for fermented adult beverages from Flying Dog as our treats. There is always an army of Hunter Thompson look-a-likes running around and celebrating as if it were the man himself. We want you to send in your pictures of you in your HST costumes so we can publish them on our website’s photo gallery and blog. HUNTER THOMPSON SYMPOSIUM FOOTAGE RELEASED

Fear and Loathing on the Campaign TrailOn July 21st, 2007 the Aspen Institute hosted the First Annual Hunter S. Thompson Symposium. The event was hosted by Hunter’s son Juan Thompson and celebrated Gonzo journalism as well as Hunter’s book Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail ‘72 that forever changed American political reporting. Journalists Carl Bernstein, Michael Isikoff of Newsweek, Loren Jenkins of NPR, John Nichols of The Nation and others came together at the symposium moderated by Professor Douglas Brinkley to discuss the effect of Hunter’s work on political reporting and American politics.
The hour and half event is exclusively available at www.HunterThompsonFilms.com in nineteen clips of free, streaming video produced by Wayne Ewing. Click on the image to the left to watch.
